Embrace Who You Are, God Loves You

In the midst of this global turmoil, it is essential to know who you truly are… God’s beloved daughter. You are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Psalms 139(NLT) says that He made all the delicate, inner parts of your body and knit you together in your mother’s womb. He saw you before you were born. He made you in an amazing and wonderful way. You are no accident. You were meant to live this life. You are unique. You are God’s masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10, NLT). You have great significance, value and you are worthy to be loved. And being a child of the Most High means that you are eternally secure in Christ. Your security does not lie in this world.

So, how can you embrace who you are?

  1. Accept yourself the way you are, the way you look. There’s always something we all wish we had or wish we didn’t. It may be something either in our physique or our personality. Sometimes, there may even be a voice in your head saying, “why are you like this?” or “you should be more this and less that” but hey stop! Stop all the negative self-talk and just take a breath. You are you. You are unique. Remind yourself that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Believe it with all your heart until you find rest in your soul. Ask Jesus to help you accept your strengths and weaknesses. Sure, there’s always room for improvement but the most important thing is to understand that you have been created in an amazing way even if people may say that you are weird or not like ‘normal’. But what is the meaning of being normal anyway? Isn’t it being yourself? So, instead of feeling awkward, just be the way God made you. You don’t need to like what everyone likes (that is absolutely ok) or do what they do just to feel ‘normal’ and part of the group. God already loves you and accepts you as you are. Relax and enjoy yourself. Discover the things you really like, things that passionate you and give you pure joy. Ask God to show you. He will. God has a unique purpose for you but how will you discover it if you are busy living according to what others think, busy trying to please everyone and trying to fit in?

  2. Don’t compare yourself to others. Stop measuring yourself to them. You are unique, remember. Be inspired by what other people do but do not compare their strengths to your weaknesses. They also have weaknesses they may not be talking about. And one essential step is to turn to God and ask Him to help you keep the focus on being you and on growing to be more like Him. Ask yourself, “what is my priority right now?”, “What is God telling me to do?”, “what do I really want to do?”. Remember, God has a unique plan for each person, so everyone has different goals.

  3. Bless those you are jealous of and those who are jealous of you. It may feel unfair but when you bless them, you release the love of God in your heart. It keeps your heart pure to hear from God. But if you are continually focused on others, either by always keeping track of what they are doing or by constantly being frustrated with what others are saying about you, you will be missing out on what God is calling you to do. So, the best decision is to bless them and continue your own journey. This is easier said than done, I know. It is a battle, but God can give you the strength and power to do it. It is worth it.

Embracing yourself is a daily decision. As long as you live in this world, you will need to fight for who you really are. But one thing you need to remember is that you were created in an amazing and wonderful way! And God loves you, no matter what.
